North Greenville University’s George Bomar Family Stadium at Ashmore Park Opens

North Greenville University’s George Bomar Family Stadium at Ashmore Park recently opened on its Tigerville campus. This stadium will serve as the home of the school’s Division II baseball team.

The Bomar family contributed $600,000 toward the new facility, which includes a president’s box that can also serve as an events space, press box that can double as a hospitality and media space and a 300-seat space directly behind home plate.

“This new stadium will help us to attract scholar-athletes for decades to come and offers a venue for other activities as well, all of which is the result of the Bomars’ vision for this special place,” said North Greenville University president Dr. Gene C. Fant Jr.

The stadium opening follows a $1.2 million reworking of the playing surface at Ashmore Park. The refurbishments included the installation of artificial turf with a standard dirt mound, new outfield fencing, backstop fencing, scoreboard, bullpen and batting cages.

Following the stadium opening, the future phases of the Ashmore Park development will include new student housing overlooking the baseball field, construction of a wellness and outdoor recreational center beyond the right-field fence and a renovation to the current baseball field house, which will include a players’ lounge, newly renovated locker room facilities, coaches’ offices, laundry and storage.
