Junior Achievement of Upstate South Carolina receives national Peak Performance Award

Junior Achievement of Upstate South Carolina was one of 14 Junior Achievement offices to receive the Peak Performance Team Award. The award was given to the Greenville chapter in honor of its 2018-2019 increased student engagement and volunteer hours.

Junior Achievement of Upstate South Carolina experienced a 14% student engagement increase from the previous year, reaching more than 11,000 students throughout the local school districts. In addition to higher student engagement, the Greenville chapter saw a 12% increase in volunteer hours with more than 350 area professionals from local and global companies, including GE and Michelin. These volunteers visited more than 50 area schools to deliver Junior Achievement programs on workforce readiness, financial literacy and entrepreneurship.

“To contribute to solving the workforce challenge of developing talent in the Upstate, we believe in starting professional development as early as possible,” said Connie Lanzl, president of Junior Achievement of Upstate South Carolina. “We do it not for any recognition but because we believe our work positively impacts the lives of our area’s young individuals, the objectives of our schools, and the future of our community.”

In addition to receiving the Peak Performance Award, Junior Achievement of Upstate South Carolina received a four-star rating from Junior Achievement USA for financial vitality and student engagement improvement.
