On April 3, the Upstate band WVRM (pronounced “worm”) released its third album, a brutal, punishing collection of grindcore metal called “Colony Collapse.” It’s an unabashedly political album, with singer Ian Nix’s torn-throat growl ruminating on topics like “Anti-Democracy,” “War Promise” and an NSFW “tribute” to his native Dixie.
