South Carolina To Receive 200-300k Doses of Covid Vaccine in December

The past week was the worst week for Covid-19 infection in the state of South Carolina with 1100 people currently hospitalized for Covid-19. Even as DHEC expects vaccine to be delivered in the next few days, we will be dealing with Covid-19 infections for quite some time.

Governor Henry McMaster and state health officials addressed South Carolina’s current Covid-19 situation, the coming vaccine and school attendance plans.

“It is our hope that today is a watershed moment where we made decisions that turn the tide”

“The marathon does not end when we give the first vaccine, it ends when we give the last vaccine” “The decisions we make today will define what we face next” — MUSC

McMaster on School Attendance

The governor wants to keep as many students in 5 day a week in-person classes if possible. He referenced a survey given on October 9, 2020. At that point, there were fifteen school districts in South Carolina providing full face-to-face instruction, five days a week. Governor McMaster asked each of the superintendents in these fifteen districts to complete a survey to learn what practices and policies were working to ensure that face-face-instruction occurredsafely and what, if any, additional support the districts needed to continue to provide full face-to-face instruction during the pandemic. Here are the results.
