New app Quitchet puts the local real estate market in your pocket

Bob Morgan remembers the exact moment he decided he was going to make an app.

It was a few years ago, and Morgan, a Realtor with C. Dan Joyner Realtors, was picking up a buyer to show him some homes. Morgan had brought all the relevant documents for them to go through as they toured the properties.

“I handed this guy about 30 pieces of paper and said, ‘Let’s take notes,’” he recalled. “And the guy just scoffed and said, ‘This is ridiculous. There should be an app for this.’”

For Morgan, it was an epiphany of sorts.

“I said to the guy, ‘You’re absolutely right. There’s going to be.’”

Now, years later, there is.

Quitchet is a new app aimed at meeting the needs of both real estate buyers and agents that has just been launched within the Greater Greenville Association of Realtors. The app is multifaceted, but key in its design are simplicity and comprehensiveness.

Say you’re an agent or buyer who wants to take notes about a property — Quitchet can do that.

Say you want to search for properties based on specific features, locations, price, and other attributes — Quietchet can do that too.

Say you want to seach for agents in the same way, or create a wish list that you can post publicly to find better results, or compare images of homes room-by-room — Quitchet can handle all of that.

“The vision was, ‘Let’s do something that Realtors and consumers will both love,” Morgan said. “Something that is geared specifically for solving a problem and not selling ads, like the big search engines do.”

The brainchild of Morgan and developed by DevObal Technoligies with support from Greenville-based Kopis, the app differentiates itself by its design as a service, rather than a product. Quitchet is provided through the membership dues of the local MLS, which means Realtors will never get an upcharge and never have to worry about buying the latest updated version. Results will be based on need, with no ability for stakeholders to purchase higher rankings or advertisements.

Morgan said he wanted a place where a buyer’s and agent’s entire database could be easily accessed, with messaging and communication right at their fingertips, as opposed to making multiple phone calls, juggling email accounts or lugging along 30 pages of documents.

“If you need it, you just Quitchet it,” Morgan said.

The app is accessible right now for the Greenville market, including listings from the 3,300-member Greater Greenville Association of Realtors, but Morgan said he plans to expand nationally in the near future.

“But even as we expand, the focus is on helping you in your specific area,” he said.
