Home Team BBQ of Greenville located just outside Downtown on the Laurens Road corridor will officially open Wednesday, May 19th at 11am. The almost 7,000 sq ft BBQ restaurant is the anchor to the new Holland Park development built along the planned extension to the Swamp Rabbit Trail. “The design team’s collaboration was at it’s best” says Aaron Siegel, Chief operating partner. The new building was designed by Jenny Keenan Designs, Mcginnis Leathers, and the four operating partners (Aaron Siegel, Taylor Garrigan, Sean Daniher, and Tony Mckie). The team gathered artifacts from past Home Team BBQ events over the years, as well as, reclaimed materials from barns in Athens, GA to create a truly unique atmosphere. A passion for music runs deep in the Home Team BBQ family. Kirk West photos, two large murals, a Marcus King print, and a gallery of southern rock legend band posters line the walls in this causal BBQ joint. As guests walk in the entryway they are greeted by a mural of Colonel Bruce Hampton, by artist Sean Williams.
Slow smoked meat is the center of the menu, surrounded by shareable appetizers, traditional sides, BBQ tacos, fresh salads, and daily specials featuring local ingredients. “ We are always working to find new and creative ways to add bbq to menu items,” says Aaron Siegel. Guests will notice influences from mexican cuisine in the house made salsas found on the BBQ nachos and tacos. Keep an eye on @hometeambbqgvl social media for daily specials posted each morning.
There is no shortage of thirst quenching options when it comes to the Home Team beverage program. There is something for everyone between the extensive collection of whiskey, local beer list, and innovative craft cocktails. The spacious screened-in porch is the perfect place to enjoy one Home Team’s signature frozen cocktails (the Gamechanger or Irish Coffee) on a warm day.
After being delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Aaron Siegel, says “it is especially sweet to share our barbecue with the Greenville community after the uncertainty we felt last spring. This project has been a labor of love for close to four years.” As the first location to open in Holland Park, Home Team BBQ looks forward to welcoming neighbors Double Stamp Brewery, Greektown Grille, and Flying Rabbit Adventures to in the coming months.
Home Team BBQ will open Wednesday through Sunday from 11am to midnight while they get settled into their new location. The full menu is available from 11am to 10pm. For those looking for a late night bite, Home Team offers a sampling of BBQ and snacks from 10pm-midnight featuring items like Fiery Ron’s Burger, Smoked Wings, and Tots.
