Furman Basketball Announces Additional Televised Contest, Updated Tip-Off Times

Greenville, S.C. – Furman’s Feb. 6 game versus Wofford at Bon Secours Wellness Arena will be televised as part of the Southern Conference’s Nexstar TV package and the Paladins’ Dec. 21 contest versus South Carolina State at Timmons Arena has been moved from 7 p.m. to a 4 p.m. tip-off, it was announced on Wednesday.

The Furman-Wofford contest, set for a 4 p.m. tip-off, will serve as the Ingles SoCon Game of the Week. Nexstar affiliates with the opportunity to air contests in the 14-game package are: WCBD (Charleston), WGHP (Greensboro/High Point), WJHL (Johnson City), WYCW (Greenville/Spartanburg/Asheville) and WWCW (Lynchburg/Roanoke). Although not a Nexstar station, WMUB (Macon), Mercer University Broadcasting, will also air select contests. WSPA Sports Director Pete Yanity will provide play-by-play and Dean Keener will serve as analyst for the regular-season broadcasts.

The “Ingles SoCon Game of the Week” broadcast package will include nine regular-season men’s games, concluding on Feb. 27 with a wildcard game that will be selected later. The package also includes all four quarterfinal games of the men’s portion of the Ingles Southern Conference Basketball Championships presented by General Shale, as well as the women’s title game.
The Paladins also announced on Wednesday that their Jan. 2 home game versus Mercer and Jan. 9 tilt versus VMI will both tip at 2 pm. Inside Timmons Arena.

Furman (5-2) continues its road trip on Saturday when it travels to Rock Hill, S.C., to face Big South Conference favorite Winthrop at 4 p.m. before hosting S.C. State at the new 4 p.m. start time on Dec. 21. Both games will be streamed on ESPN+ and fans can listen to the “Voice of the Paladins”, Dan Scott, on ESPN Upstate at 97.7 FM/1330 AM in Greenville, 97.1 FM/ 950 AM in Spartanburg, and thru the Radio.com app. Links for the video live stream and ESPN Upstate broadcast will be posted at FurmanPaladins.com.

Furman’s “Weekends at the Well” Series Returns In 2021


Furman basketball returns to downtown Greenville once again during the 2020-21 season with four “Weekends at the Well”! The Paladins host SoCon rival ETSU at Bon Secours Wellness Arena on January 16 before entertaining the Chattanooga Mocs at the Well on January 30. On February 6, Wofford and Furman will stage a rematch of last season’s thrilling showdown at the Well. The final trip to BSW in 2021 takes place on February 13 versus Western Carolina.
