COVID-19: GPD Response

The Greenville Police Department will be educating the public about the new SC Governor’s executive order that authorizes law enforcement to prohibit or disperse groups of three or more in a public area.

This does not apply to people waiting in line to pick up food or students at food distribution locations. However, social distancing should still be observed at all times.

Our hope is that the community works with the police to voluntary comply, allowing officers to focus their efforts on serving the community. In addition to the new executive order in place, Falls Park has been closed and additional officers have been assigned to patrol city parks as well as the downtown. A curfew for the Central Business District will go into effect Wednesday night (3/25) at 11 p.m. The hours for the curfew are 11 p.m  to 6 a.m. This will restrict travel as well as gatherings of people, with the exception of people traveling to and from work or for healthcare purposes.
