A Look Inside a COVID field hospital

Corinne Chausse is a frontline, healthcare hero. She is pulling repeated 12 hour shifts on helping patients battle the coronavirus.

Chausse is working her second field hospital. This Union County, North Carolina nurse, who previously traveled with Samaritan’s Purse to New York City’s Central Park, is now stationed at a field hospital in Lenior, North Carolina.

“Never dreamed that we would be here. Never dreamed we’d be here a year later at another field hospital,” she told WCNC Charlotte.

In Lenoir, a majority of patients she treats are on the homestretch. It’s the victories that keep her going.

“Seeing a patient walk out to the gate — that was huge for me, because I hadn’t experienced that in New York at all,” she said.

But through hope, reality sets in. Nearly a year later, and she’s still going to battle on the frontlines.
