Upstate Local Shout Out: 3 Great Spots for Outdoor Dining

2020 has been a rough year for everyone and local businesses have suffered dramatically from the Covid-19 pandemic. This new series will be focused on shining a spotlight on the local Upstate places we love that are working hard to make the “new normal” a little more normal.

Outdoor dining is a safe and great way to break your week. With the cool Fall weather, now is the perfect time to enjoy a socially distanced meal outside.

Here are three local spots that we love for Fall outdoor dining that offer great food, socially distanced seating and easy ordering.

Anita’s Mexican Restaurant

Located in a converted house in Simpsonville, Anita’s has been our go to spot for Mexican food for over 20 years. The homemade salsa, Tamarind chicken and huge burritos have been family favorites since day one.

With the onset of Covid-19, Anita’s had to pivot quickly to adapt to social distancing requirements and gladly, they handled it perfectly. With a new ordering process and plenty of outdoor seating on their two porches, Anita’s is a great spot for a quick lunch or dinner.

Not to miss: Ask for the hot salsa if you like it spicy + chicken and bean burrito has been my order for 20 years (it’s a delicious rut to be in)

Upcountry Provisions Bakery and Bistro

Located right off the Swamp Rabbit Trail in Travelers Rest, Upcountry Provisions serves breakfast, lunch and dinner six days a week. Everything is good but made so much better by their fresh homemade breads and pastries.

With lot’s of outdoor seating and a conscientious staff, Upcountry Bread is a perfect spot to enjoy a socially distanced meal of a quick snack.

Not to miss: Do not leave without a loaf of Stecca and a chocolate brownie!

Moe’s BBQ

Owners Sam Ragland and John Wood teamed up to bring Moe’s Original BBQ to the North Main community in a renovated historic building in the Westone Development. Open daily for lunch and dinner, Moe’s has a spacious outdoor patio that makes it easy for diners to spread out and enjoy their meal. Ordering is quick and with the addition of the new walk-up outdoor bar register, contact-less ordering makes takeout super easy.

Not to miss: Wings with Alabama White Sauce + Stop in at Liability Brewing for a great craft beer
