Greenville County Schools restricts school visitations

Greenville County Schools will eliminate all non-essential visitations during the school day beginning Monday, March 16, the district announced. The restrictions apply to parents, volunteers, mentors, lunch visitors, outside speakers and other visitors.

The district said in a release it also will limit after school activities, though outdoor events after school will be allowed as long as there is adequate space to maintain social distancing to prevent the potential spread of the coronavirus.

The new procedures will not affect individualized education plans, individualized graduation plans, individual parent conferences, or other essential business.

The Roper Mountain Science Center will also suspend visits by out-of-district school groups until further notice. Some student groups from outside Greenville County Schools have already cancelled reservations due to restrictions put in place by their own districts.  Starry Nights will continue as scheduled.
