Will South Carolina students have to continue wearing masks at school?

The South Carolina governor urges school districts to drop the masks.

McMaster recently made the following comment regarding mask in South Carolina schools: It is ridiculous for school districts to tell parents whether or not their child should wear a mask in the classroom, that is up to the parent. Every teacher has had the opportunity to get vaccinated and are safe from the virus. It’s time to unmask our children

Greenville County Schools Responded to McMaster’s Comments

Greenville County School spokesman, Tim Waller, gave the following statement regarding the Governor’s comments:

Masks in schools are still a requirement by the state Department of Education. They are also recommended by public health officials on whom we have relied throughout the pandemic because of their unique medical and scientific expertise. Until the guidance from these trusted sources changes, masks will remain a requirement in Greenville County Schools.
