CHARLOTTE — Of the four players who exited Sunday’s win in Atlanta and did not return, only cornerback Donte Jackson (toe) participated in Wednesday’s practice.

Jackson was on the field in a limited capacity after playing just one snap against the Falcons. Defensive end Brian Burns (concussion) was at practice during the portion open to media but was in a red jersey. He did not participate.

Head coach Matt Rhule announced after practice that defensive tackle Kawann Short will undergo season-ending surgery on his right shoulder after injuring it in the third quarter on Sunday. Short will be placed on the reserve/injured list.

Rhule did not have an update on defensive end Yetur Gross-Matos (ankle), who was not on the field.
