Spartanburg Regional held carnival-themed celebration

An Upstate hospital celebrated cancer survivors while socially distanced on Sunday. Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System hosted a carnival-themed event to honor people who have faced battles with cancer and won, along with their families. This is the 23rd year for the event, hosted by the Upward Star Center in Spartanburg. Organizers say it honors the courage and perseverance of cancer survivors who have gotten treatment at the Gibbs Cancer Center and Research Institute. Balloons lined the parking lot, where cars pulled up and partook in the festivities. “We want our survivors to know we are supporting them and their caregivers as well,” Stacy Williams, the survivorship program coordinator, said. “We take this day to celebrate them, and when we get the opportunity to look around and see all the other cars, they know they’re not in this fight alone.”
