Energy-Saving Trees

Energy-Saving Trees help you save on energy, reduce your utility bills, and help clean the water and air throughout the Upstate. 

Thanks to Duke Energy, TreesUpstate has given away over 7,700 trees!

What tree species are available? Large shade trees and small understory trees are available, all native species. We do not have specific species information at this time.

Can we get more than one tree?  The maximum number of trees per household is two trees.

How big will they get?  Large shade trees and small understory trees are available.  Species information that includes mature height and width will be available on site.

How can I calculate how much energy I can save with a new tree? Go to https://design.itreetools.org/. i-Tree is a free online software that helps calculate the economic value of trees. 

Does it matter where I live?  These trees will be available to everyone in Oconee, Anderson, Pickens, Greenville, and Spartanburg Counties.

How do I plant the tree? We provide a planting instructions tag with every tree. You can also review tree planting resources on our Resources Page

Energy Saving Trees is a program of the Arbor Day Foundation.  This program is locally  administered by TreesUpstate and presented by Duke Energy.
