Top three ways Biden can get us out of forever wars

Akan Malici, a Furman University professor of politics and international affairs, advances a three-pronged approach for staving off partisan politics in foreign policy for the Biden administration: 1) disavow post-cold war foreign policy ideologies, 2) rein in U.S. defense spending, and 3) engage in a careful analysis of what America’s vital interests are, and bring the country’s commitments into alignment with these values. In an article Malici contributed to Informed Comment, he wrote, “It is imperative for the U.S. to jettison some bedrocks of American foreign policy. All too often have they been a peril to the country’s troops, a drain on its treasury, and a serious injury to America’s global reputation and standing.”
