Storms return for our Memorial Day

>> IT DEFINITELY FELT LIKE SUMMER ACROSS THE AREA THIS AFTERNOON. WE HAD HIGH TEMPERATURES IN MANY SPOTS, PUSHING CLOSE TO THE 90 DEGREE MARK THIS SEASON. TEMPERATURES DID HIT 90 DEGREES AROUND HARTWELL AND OVER TOWARD ELBERTON. THOSE POP-UP SHOWERS AND STORMS ROAD AND COOLER TEMPERATURES. WE HAVE A MIX OF SUN AND CLOUDS, A BEAUTIFUL AFTERNOON AND EVENING. AS WE TAKE A LOOK AT LIVE SUPER DOPPLER FOR HD, WE COULD HAVE A COUPLE OF SCATTERED SHOWERS AND STORMS. I AM WASHING A CLUSTER OF SCRUMS BETWEEN CLEMSON AND HARTWELL RIGHT OVER THE LAKE RIGHT NOW. MAKE SURE THEY ARE KEEPING AN EYE ON THE SKY. ESPECIALLY TOWARD THE SOUTH. BEWARE THAT YOU MIGHT NEED TO MAKE YOUR WAY BACK ON SHORE. WE ARE WATCHING A FRONTAL BOUNDARY OFF TO THE NORTH AND EAST. BEFORE THAT FRONT MOVES IN, WE HAVE THIS WARM FLOW COMING IN FROM THE GULF OF MEXICO. WE WILL SEE A COOL AND EASTERLY WHEN SETTING UP. IN BETWEEN, THAT IS THE BOUNDARY. THAT BOUNDARY IS SLOWLY BACKING INTO THE AREA. THE ACTIVITY WILL CONTINUE TO WANE THROUGHOUT THE EVENING HOURS. JUST LIKE THIS MORNING, WE COULD HAVE SOME FOG IN PLACE WITH ALL THAT MOISTURE TRACKED AT THE SURFACE. AS WE GO INTO THE AFTERNOON AND EVENING HOURS, NOTICE WE WILL HAVE MORE WIDESPREAD SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS REDEVELOPING ACROSS THE AREA. MAKE SURE TO KEEP YOUR RAIN GEAR HANDY. THIS IS SOMETHING THEY ARE KEEPING A CLOSE EYE ON HERE. AS WE GO THROUGHOUT THE DAY, I THINK THE MIDDAY TIMEFRAME WILL BE MAINLY DRIVE FOR MOST OF US. IT IS AS WE GET INTO THE AFTERNOON AND EVENING HOURS THAT WE WILL HAVE THE BEST CHANCE OF SCATTERED SHOWERS DEVELOPING. GUSTY WINDS AND LIGHTNING. THE TORNADO THREAT IS FAIRLY LOW. STRONG WINDS AS THE STORM’S COLLAPSE. THEY SEND OUT A RUSH OF WIND. LIGHTNING WILL BE VERY HIGH. THEY HAVE POTENTIAL OF FLASH FLOODING ISOLATED SPOTS. AS WE GET TOWARD THE MIDDLE OF THE WEEK, LOOK AT THE TEMPERATURES COOLING DOWN TO THE 70’S. THEY ARE BACK BELOW NORMAL BY THE MIDDLE OF THE WEEK. HERE IS THE FOUR-DAY PLUS. ALL THE OUTSIDE EVENTS, TURNING COOLER AS
