Covid infections continue to rise across South Carolina with DHEC reporting the highest total in 5 months with 2780 new cases being reported Thursday. Greenville reported 200 new cases and Spartanburg posting 162. Richland County appears to be the hot spot for the state with 271 new infections.

Covid Vaccination rate for the state crept up top 44.9% of residents 12 and over now fully vaccinated. South Carolina remains 40th in the nation for Covid Vaccination rate.

The Percent Positivity rate for Covid testing is now 18.7% indicating that many more people are possibly infected but have not yet been tested. The higher the percent positive is, the more concerning it is. As a rule of thumb, however, the World Health Organization gives a threshold for the percent positive being “too high” at 5%; South Carolina is nearly 4 times that rate.
