South Carolina men’s basketball head coach Frank Martin tests positive

The first time South Carolina Gamecocks men’s basketball coach Frank Martin fought the novel coronavirus, he was asymptomatic. Following his second positive test, which occurred last week, he told reporters, via The State: “The first time it didn’t kick my tail the way this one kicked my tail.”Martin first tested positive in May while preparing to undergo knee-replacement surgery. This time, however, he said he battle typical COVID-19 symptoms such as congestion and coughing. Due to previous COVID-19 issues within the program, the Gamecocks paused for two weeks in December. Five games were either postponed or canceled during that hiatus. South Carolina will play Saturday against LSU, with assistant coach Bruce Shingler – who has been leading the team in practice this week – acting as the head coach.
