Death Row inmates in South Carolina would be given the choice between the electric chair and and a firing squad should lethal injection drugs not be available at the time of their execution. The 66-43 vote Wednesday is one of the last steps needed to finalize the bill. The Senate already passed their version of the measure. It appears that only a few procedural steps remain for the bill to be passed to the Governor who has indicated that he is willing to sign it into law.
No one has been executed in South Carolina in over 10 years. The drugs used for lethal injection are not available meaning inmates may face an incredible tough choice.
