Remains of human fetus found stuffed inside wall at South Carolina home

Bones from a human fetus were found inside a wall of a South Carolina home over the weekend, authorities said. Someone renovating the house made the gruesome discovery Saturday in the small town of Pacolet, about 40 miles east of Greenville, according to the Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office. Investigators believe the bones, which Coroner Rusty Clevenger described as “fetal human skeletal remains,” had been there for a long time, possibly for decades, he said in a statement to news outlets. It’s still unknown how or when the fetus died. Clevenger said a forensic anthropologist will examine the bones to determine if the death was criminal. The investigation could take several months, he said.
