Russell W. Booker will become the executive director of the Spartanburg Academic Movement on Sept. 1. Beginning Aug. 1, he will also work with the Spartanburg Area Chamber of Commerce as a diversity and economic inclusion consultant.

Booker previously served as superintendent of Spartanburg School District Seven.
