Governor Roy Cooper also announces additional relief

Last yesterday afternoon, November 10, North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper announced that due to continuing high numbers of COVID, the state will remain at Phase 3 of its reopening plan.

For restaurants, this means that indoor dining will remain at 50 percent with distancing and cleaning requirements. Bars are still unable to permit customers to drink inside, but they may imbibe outside.

Cooper also announced that announced that full-service restaurants will be eligible to apply for assistance through the Mortgage, Utility and Rent Relief Program (MURR) on Thursday, November 12.

Qualified businesses may request payments for up to four months of rent or mortgage interest capped at $20,000 per location for up to 2 locations. According to the MURR website, “[They] expect this program change will quickly lead to the exhaustion of available funds for the MURR
