DOESN’T JUST KEEP DRIVERS SAFE. OBVIOUSLY CHECKING THE INTEGRITY OF A BRIDGE KEEP DRIVERS SAFE, BUT IN ORDER TO DO THAT, THEY HAVE TO BRING A CREW OUT BLOCK OFF LANE AND IT CAN TAKE SOME TIME BUT NOW THANKS TO DRONE TECHNOLOGY. ALL THEY HAVE TO DO IS SIMPLY SEND UP THAT DRONE. IT TAKES A LOT LESS TIME KEEPS CREWS SAFE AND IS A L LESS HASSLE FOR DRIVERS. THEY ARE ABLE TO DO THIS. THANKS TO A WAIVER OF THE FAA APPROVED FOR NCDOT. NOW THIS ALLOWS THEM TO OPERATE. A CRAFT BEYOND THE SIGHT OF THE PERSON ACTUALLY FLYING THE DRONE BEFORE THE DRONE ALWAYS HAD TO BE WHERE THE PERSON FLYING IT COULD SEE IT WHICH PREVENTED THEM FROM BEING ABLE TO GET INTO THE NOOKS AND CRANNIES OF THE BRIDGE TO FULLY INSPECT IT. THIS WAIVER WILL MAINLY BE USED BY DEVOTEES RAPID RESPONSE TEAM AND THEY ARE SORT OF THE SPECIAL OPS OF THE BRIDGE INSPECTION WORLD. THEY ARE THE RAPID RESPONSE TEAM THAT GOES IN IF THERE’S BEEN A WRECK AND THERE MIGHT BE DAMAGE OR THERE’S BEEN A HURRICANE OR A LANDSLIDE OR SOME OTHER REASON TO THINK THE BRIDGE STRUCTURE MIGHT HAVE BEEN COMPROMISED. WE WILL NOW BE ABLE TO GET IN THERE ALMOST IMMEDIATELY AND GET REALLY HIGH QUALITY PHOTOS AND VIDEOS OF THE INSIDE AND UNDERNEATH THE BRIDGE. AND BE ABLE TO DETERMINE WHETHER OR NOT IT’S STILL SAFE FOR THE TRAVELING PUBLIC NCDOT IS THE FIRST STATE GRANTED THIS WAIVER FROM THE FAA IN SEVERAL STATES ARE EXPECTED TO FOLLOW
