Motorcyclist killed in hit-and-run, troopers say

A motorcyclist was killed Thursday night in a hit-and-run in Abbeville County, according to Master Trooper Gary Miller, with the South Carolina Highway Patrol.The accident happened just before 6 p.m. on SC-20 near Hill Road, Miller said.According to Miller, the driver of the Harley Davidson was traveling east on SC-20 when a utility truck traveling west crossed over the center line striking the motorcyclist head-on.The motorcyclist was wearing a helmet and was ejected from the bike and died at the scene, Miller said.The coroner has identified the motorcyclist as John Hall, 67, of Abbeville .According to Miller, the driver of the utility truck left the scene of the accident, but returned later.The driver of the utility truck was seat-belted and injured but did not go to the hospital, Miller said.The accident remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.Miller did not say if charges were being filed against the truck driver.
