Med student develops grocery delivery service for seniors affected by coronavirus

As health officials urge people older than 60 to stay at home during the coronavirus outbreak, many elderly people have no way to get groceries. Jayde Powell, a pre-med student in Las Vegas, decided to take action and ensure seniors don’t go without the essentials. “The problem now is when you go to the store, those items aren’t even on the shelves for people to buy,” Powell told KVVU. “It’s been something I’m focused on, been brainstorming pretty intensely the past couple days.”Powell has developed a program called Shopping Angels, which delivers groceries to the elderly without extra costs or fees.”When you coordinate with us, we’ll tell you the volunteer who is picking up for you so we can get it to you,” she said. “Going to one store could be an all-day affair for an elderly person,” one of Powell’s volunteers added. “They don’t have money to get gas
