Man charged with stealing Upstate fire truck

The Laurens County Sheriff’s Office on Monday said a man was taken into custody and charged with stealing a truck belonging to the Gray Court Fire Department.Deputies have obtained warrants on Erek Strusinski for burglary and grand larceny in connection to the case, according to Sheriff Don Reynolds. Strusinski is in custody in North Carolina on unrelated charges, Reynolds said.The rescue truck was stolen on Friday from the fire station on Dove Road.The truck was recovered near Boone on Saturday. Investigators found evidence linking Strusinski to the theft of the truck, Reynolds said.Strusinski will be extradited to Laurens County Detention Center to face these charges at a later time.No other information about a motive was released.
