Bon Secours St. Francis Health System has deployed over 40 iBeacons to their primary care facilities across the Upstate of South Carolina. The iBeacon technology will communicate with the iOnGreenville apps to deliver a variety of healthcare information such as:

  • MyChart Access
  • New Physician Announcements
  • Shot Reminders
  • New Healthcare Offerings

The iBeacons allow the iOnGreenville mobile apps to automatically deliver information to user’s mobile phones as they enter a facility. The messaging is specific to each location and can be easily managed via the iOnGreenville CMS. This allows each facility to deliver messaging unique to them.

iBeacon Technology and Healthcare

Initially the iBeacon technology will be utilized to prompt patients to sign up and easily access the new MyChart portal. MyChart is an online system that enables patients to:

  • Review medications, immunizations and lab results
  • Safely and Securely access their patient information
  • Communicate with their physician
  • Request appointments

More About iBeacons

iBeacons allow Mobile Apps to listen for signals from beacons in the physical world and react accordingly. iBeacon technology allows Mobile Apps to understand their position, and deliver content to users based on location. The technology works using the Bluetooth Low Energy abilities available on the user’s phone.
