Greenville’s Children’s Museum Letting Campers Plan and Create New Mural

Following the opening of his mural, Rooftop Dreams, at The Children’s Museum of the Upstate, local muralist, Adam Schrimmer will be a special part of TCMU’s Art Adventures summer camp from June 14th-June 19th.

Specifically, Adam will join 3rd, 4th, and 5thgrade campers during the art themed camp week to facilitate lessons and activities around mural making. The campers will also be given the opportunity to brainstorm, plan and draw sections of a life-size mural. Then, on Saturday, June 18thfrom 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.campers will be invited to join Adamin bringing the mural to life outside TCMU’s Greenville building.

The mural will be inspired by the work of artist Henri Matisse–with whimsical and colorful shapes positioned throughout. Javy Pagan, TCMU’s Programs Manager comments, “Once again, we are so grateful for the work that Adam is doing with and for the museum. This community mural project will give children the opportunity to be a part of a beautiful piece of public artwork that will be a part of the Greenville community for years to come!” Schrimmer’s Rooftop Dreams mural can be found on the second floor of The Children’s Museum of the Upstate located at 300 College Street.

Schrimmer’s other murals can be found at the One Miami Condominium in Miami, Florida, Facebook offices in North Carolinaas well as numerous mural projects in and around the city of Greenville for a variety of businesses including Michelin, Fluor Field, Aloft Hotels, Hampton Station, Poe West, Ally Coffee, and Birds Fly South.

This project is generously funded by The City of Greenville, following a presentation to The Arts in Public Places Commission.
