Furman Basketball Tops SoCon In First NET Rankings Of 2020-21

The Furman men’s basketball team is ranked a Southern Conference-best No. 56 in the inaugural NCAA Evaluation Tool (NET) Rankings of the 2020-21 season, which were released on Monday morning.

The Paladins, off to an 8-3 start overall and sporting a 2-0 record in SoCon play, are ranked directly behind PAC-12 powers UCLA and Stanford and ahead of ACC and SEC challengers Florida State, Ole Miss, North Carolina, Wake Forest, Pitt, Auburn and Georgia, as well as, Big East contenders Marquette and Providence.

The SoCon joined the AAC, ACC, Big East, Big Ten and SEC as one of only six conference to have all of its members rank in the top 200 in the season’s inaugural NET Rankings. Wofford and Mercer joined Furman in the top 100 at No. 88 and No. 89, respectively, while Chattanooga appeared at No. 118.

Furman is back in action on Saturday at 2 p.m. when it hosts the VMI Keydets in SoCon action at Timmons Arena. The game will be streamed on ESPN+ and fans can listen to the “Voice of the Paladins”, Dan Scott, on ESPN Upstate at 97.7 FM/1330 AM in Greenville, 97.1 FM/ 950 AM in Spartanburg, and thru the Radio.com app.

Furman’s “Weekends at the Well” Series Returns In 2021


Furman basketball returns to downtown Greenville once again during the 2020-21 season with four “Weekends at the Well”! The Paladins host SoCon rival ETSU at Bon Secours Wellness Arena on January 16 before entertaining the Chattanooga Mocs at the Well on January 30. On February 6, Wofford and Furman will stage a rematch of last season’s thrilling showdown at the Well. The final trip to BSW in 2021 takes place on February 13 versus Western Carolina.
