Having lost out to the Savannah Sand Gnats on the Southern Division’s first half championship, the Drive will look to exact some revenge when the New York Mets affiliate visits Fluor Field beginning Saturday. The four-game series, that highlights Downtown Greenville’s Independence Day weekend, features patriotic celebrations and one of the Drive’s most popular promotions!
Baseball and America have always gone hand-in-hand, and what better way to celebrate the 4th of July on Saturday than with a hot dog, Pepsi, Greenville Drive baseball and postgame fireworks? First pitch for the tilt between the Drive and Sand Gnats is set for 6:05 PM, and following the game, fans will be able to watch the City of Greenville’s incredible fireworks show from their seats or down on the field. Fluor Field provides the best view of the fireworks, that are shot off just a block from the ballpark, beginning at 9:30 PM.
Before the game, the fun kicks off with the annual Carolina Pride Hot Dog Eating Contest, so be in your seats early and stick around late for a fun Independence Day at Fluor Field!
The Drive will keep with the patriotic theme on Sunday, July 5th, with Military Appreciation Day, as first pitch is set for 4:05 PM. Join the Drive, Upstate Warrior Solutions, and The USO as we salute the many courageous active military and veterans who will be part of the day’s festivities and give thanks to the organizations who provide assistance to those veterans. The pregame ceremonies will feature military veteran recognition, the US Army Special Forces Parachute team and a Warbirds vintage aircraft flyover. A Purple Heart ceremony and a Bronze Star presentation highlights the between-innings entertainment, which also features an Armed Forces medley, veterans and their children participating in games and activities and much more. The Sunday tradition of BlueCross BlueShield Kids Run the Bases continues following the game.
Drive fans will begin their Playcation with the Drive on Monday, July 6th at 7:05 PM. For fans who missed the Playcation package going on sale, the Drive will be placing an extremely limited number of packages on sale at 4:00 on Monday, only at the Main Street Box Office. The popular and affordable Playcation package has been a huge hit once again this season, and fans who purchased the package received four tickets to Monday’s game, along with four passes to The Children’s Museum of the Upstate, the Greenville Zoo, and Greenville County Rec Waterparks/Pavilion for just $55 – a savings of over $100! Passes for all Upstate attractions are good through September 7th. The Drive are proud to team up with these three great attractions to provide an exciting, affordable experience for families this summer!
The homestand concludes on Tuesday, July 7th at 7:05 PM with Boy Scout Night. The Boy Scouts will be rewarded by the Drive and the Palmetto Council for their year-round hard work, starting with a pregame parade beginning at 6:20 PM and continuing with the receiving of a special commemorative patch, the chance to participate in between-inning games and entertainment, and the opportunity to camp out overnight at Fluor Field following the game. Be sure to come out and give these Boy Scouts in the Upstate the recognition they deserve.
