Chicago Fire are determined to keep holding up their end of the bargain by beating Minnesota United on Wednesday after favourable weekend results.

The Fire drew 1-1 with Nashville on Saturday and that was enough to ensure they hold a playoff place in 10th as things stand.

Montreal Impact, Inter Miami and DC United all crucially lost, meanwhile, but Chicago coach Raphael Wicky is keen to ensure his team are not relying on favors elsewhere – particularly given the volatile nature of points-per-game.

“We’re going to make our points. That’s more important [than other results],” Wicky said. “That’s what we can work for and what we can control more than the other.”

He added: “We believe that we can make the playoffs. I see the progress. I see the progress and the process of this team, and I see a lot of progress. I see it in every single game.”
