Veteran Suicide Prevention Hike of the South East (Silkies encouraged!). Join is this year for our 2nd Annual Hike to Prevent Veteran Suicide! Our Hike is literally a walk in the Park; Falls Park to be exact. September is suicide awareness month and we plan to do more than raise awareness. We Strive to Prevent suicide, starting with the Veteran community. Everyone is welcome to participate and join us in the fight to reduce the statistic of losing 22 Veterans every day to suicide. The day is filled with Food, Fun and Fellowship along with physical activities to get the Warrior inside us all, activated in our competitive nature. The Hike pace is a slow 3 miles per hour, or as fast as our slowest participant. Families are welcome and encouraged. Last year we had children as young as 5 years old complete the hike.
Lunch is being provided by our good friends Mary Jo Danner (Air Force Vet) and her boyfriend Jeff Selzer (Owner Operator) of Food Truck Cluck Sequel and Friends.
Water, Gatorade, snacks and enough goodies for all will be abundant and easily available at each of the stops.
13 Stripes & Thomas Creek Breweries have both been kind enough to sponsor us with FREE BEER at a couple watering holes during the Hike!
Park at the County Tax Office Parking Lot to the left closer to Howe Street and Flour Field.
Our Hike will finish up at Flour Field just in time for their Veterans Day Celebration concert with Charlie Daniels! (Link for tickets to concert is in the new feed.)
If you know a Veteran who would benefit from joining other Veterans as we Strive to reduce the 22 please let them know or bring them along!
