Theology on Tap

TOPIC: TBD What is Theology on Tap? The format is simple: beer (or wine), conversation, and God. We usually start with a few primer questions on some topic. Topics in the past (and may be repeated in the future) have been: truth, mysticism, evil, reconciliation, sacred texts, prayer, liberation, stewardship, and many others. However conversations take weird turns. Who knows what subjects might come along? Be ready to engage with people of varying religious traditions, philosophical perspectives and life experiences. You’ll be able to share your own wrestlings and thoughts while learning something new along the way, and hey— there’s likely to be a good craft beer you haven’t tried yet! The following are rules to keep in mind: - Acknowledge your own uncertainties; seek commonalities; use influence rather than imposing power. - Open discussion means OPEN. Anyone can speak but make sure you’re listening before you speak. - Don’t interrupt. - Don’t be a jerk. - Remember that no one has a monopoly on truth. People have been gathering in pubs and public spaces for ages, talking about life, philosophy, faith, and deep questions of meaning. Increasingly, people are rediscovering the pub as a safe, open space where they can explore and express their own doubts and questions, learn from others, and engage people of varying religious traditions. In our increasingly fractured society, these spaces are not only welcomed, but needed. Come bring your questions, your curiosity, and pull up a chair.
