Step Into Story: Hallie Bertling

march 8, 2019 – april 26, 2019 opening reception: friday, march 8, 6:30 – 9:00 p.m. Centre Stage 501 River Street | Greenville, SC 29601 Sponsored by South State Bank and brought to you by the Metropolitan Arts Council a lifelong fascination with storytelling continues to inspire the art of hallie m. bertling. after delving into a story's origin, she uses a unique combination of icon patterns (and an imagined library of shoe designs!) to create vibrant paintings of classic faerie tales, books, and theatre works. painting just the feet of each character, hallie lets viewers imagine themselves as the heroines or heroes of each adventurous tale. hallie studied illustration at the savannah college of art and design and started her career in children's books. while still an illustrator, she has forged her own creative path-- telling stories visually through the fine arts as well. when her nose isn't stuck in a book, hallie most loves to see her work ignite a passionate story memory-- inspiring others to tell the tale to someone else. you can read more about each painting's creation process and its story origins at halthegal.art and you're welcome to shop her story-inspired goodies at halthegal.etsy.com halthegal's original gouache and mixed-media faerie tale feet paintings, as well as some new faerie tale illustrations, are available for purchase in the centre stage theatre lobbies march 8 through april 26.
