THIS MONTH’S PAIRING: Monteverdi and Merlot
Welcome to the Renaissance – Tudor architecture, merry minstrels, and the arts! The Renaissance was truly the age of rebirth and discovery, bridging the Middle Ages and modern history. The age of enlightenment was best known for such polymaths as Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo, who inspired the term “Renaissance Man”. The first opera was composed in 1600 by Peri followed by Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo seven years later. Join us and be enlightened!
