Tim Kelly from the book by Richard Hooker The 40th Summer Theatre Season will open with M*A*S*H, based on the film and television series dramatized from the book by Richard Hooker. It was originally made into a film directed by Robert Altman starring Donald Sutherland and Sally Kellerman, then in 1972 made its debut on television. Members of the 4077th Mobile Army Surgical Hospital care for the injured during the Korean War and use humor to escape from the horror and depression of the situation. Among the 4077's people are Captains. Benjamin "Hawkeye" Pierce and "Trapper John" McIntire, Majors Margaret "Hot Lips" Houlihan, Frank Burns, and Corporal Walter "Radar" O'Reilly, to name only a few of the many endearing characters that audiences have come to love.
