Postponed: Mariachi Herencia De México

To follow the old adage “The show must go on” The Newberry Opera House Board and Staff was hopeful to bring world-class entertainment to our guests during this anxious time. However, in light of the COVID-19 press conferences and state of emergency from both Governor McMaster and President Trump, the tough decision has been made to postpone shows as soon as contractually possible (March 15-31, 2020) to mitigate exposure to the virus for our guests, performers, volunteers, and staff. Mariachi Herencia De México has been postponed at this time. We anticipate the show rescheduling for the 2020-2021 season. If you had tickets, please check your email for options or call 803-276-6264. Thank you for your patience as we all navigate uncharted waters. The Newberry Opera House looks forward to seeing you very soon! A Dufford Institute for Cultural Diversity Event in conjunction with Newberry Arts For All (NAFA) Enhanced Experience: Arrive an hour early to sample tastes from our culturally diverse community. Mariachi Herencia de México, a youth ensemble from Chicago’s immigrant barrios, is Mariachi music’s most exciting newcomer. This Mariachi group has defied a music industry trend pointing to a revival in recorded Mariachi music. The group scored a surprise hit with their debut album of traditional Mexican music, “Nuestra Herencia” (Our Heritage), which reached #2 on the iTunes Latin chart and received a 2017 Latin Grammy® nomination. The ensemble's second album was also within the Top 5 on the iTunes and Billboard Latin charts. Don’t miss the opportunity to learn about the world of Mariachi music when this ensemble visits the Newberry Opera House!
