The Hub City Hog Fest is kicking off spring by hosting its 7th annual BBQ and Music Festival Friday and Saturday, April 5-6, in Daniel Morgan Square – the heart of Downtown Spartanburg!
The two-day festival boasts a stellar lineup of BBQ competitors, music performers and food vendors. The event also offers a free children’s entertainment area with carnival rides and bounce houses for all to enjoy.
Entry is free before 5 p.m. and $5 after 5 p.m. on Friday. On Saturday, entry is $5 all day. Children 10 and under are free all weekend. Hog Bucks tickets must be used to purchase food and beverages. Proceeds from the event will benefit Mobile Meals of Spartanburg.
The Hub City Hog Fest is sure to have culinary delights for everyone to enjoy. While supplies last, festival goers can sample competition teams’ chicken wings from 6-8 p.m. on Friday and BBQ from noon-2 p.m. on Saturday. The event also includes more than half a dozen regional food trucks who will be on site all weekend and Artisan’s Alley on Saturday – a new addition to the event that will feature different wares from local vendors.
The Hub City Hog Fest’s stacked two-day music lineup starting on Friday will be a worthy companion to the event’s tasty treats. Bands to perform will be announced soon!
While the festival revolves around two days of BBQ and music, the primary focus of the Hog Fest is to bring a fun, family-oriented event to the community, and to raise money for a worthy, local charity.
The BBQ competition is sanctioned by the South Carolina BBQ Association and is organized and judged in accordance with their rules and regulations. Competition categories include butts, brisket, and ribs on Saturday, with a wing competition on Friday night. Several roads will be blocked off to accommodate 45 competing teams from across the tri-state area. Teams will set up on Church Street between Main Street and St. John Street.
