Collaborators & Cocktails: Greenville Triumph

Soccer is the 2nd-fastest growing sport in America, with an extraordinarily diverse fan and player base that crosses genders, cultures, ages and income levels. The Greenville Triumph, the upstate’s professional soccer expansion team which was announced less than a year ago, has built a 4,100-person stadium around the pitch at Legacy Early College on Greenville's historic west side, in time for the home opener against Lansing April 6th. If you know soccer you likely also know beer - so this C&C will be a special "Collaborators & Craft Beers" edition! Team owners Joe Erwin & Shannon Wilbanks will share the story behind the leap into this unexpected new business venture, along with the very latest on the team, community impact, the stadium, the Triumph’s award-winning coach (National Soccer Hall of Fame member John Harkes), player recruitment, and their excitement at helping re-introduce Greenville’s west side to the upstate. Co-owner and Chief Brand Officer Doug Erwin will go behind the scenes on what it took to create the Greenville Triumph brand from the ground up – from the critical initial challenges of naming and logo design, to developing the right mix of marketing, advertising, PR, social media, fan engagement and community outreach to launch pro soccer in the upstate.
