At Home with Carrie Chapman Catt: A Virtual Chautauqua

#CarrieChapmanCatt, (portrayed by Annette Baldwin), was a former Iowa school teacher and principal, possessed astonishing skills of organization, diplomacy, strategy and oratory. She brought all these gifts to her work for woman #suffrage. #SusanBAnthony, president of the National American Woman Suffrage Association, recognized how Catt’s talents and leadership ability would bring enormous value to the NAWA if she succeeded Anthony as president. Thus, in 1900, Anthony personally passed the president’s gavel to Catt, whose 1915 “Winning Plan” for the Vote is now legendary. Six months before ratification of the 19th Amendment, in August 1920, Catt founded the #LeagueofWomenVoters, to educate women to be independent, politically-informed citizens.
