Martin Luther King, Jr. took hold of the freedoms promised by our nation’s founding fathers and used his constitutional rights when he made his speech and developed his dream. By taking action on his dream, Dr. King was able to change the future of men, women and children, and impact so many aspects of our current society. It is this spirit that inspired us to continue the theme for the 2019 MLK Dream Scholarships.
We would like to extend a special invitation for you to join us at the 2019 MLK Dreams in Action Scholarship Breakfast taking place on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at the Greenville Commerce Club at 9am. This event provides us with an opportunity to award nearly $200,000 in scholarships and change the future of Upstate youth.
This year our featured keynote speaker is Dr. Wes Bellamy, City Councilman, Charlottesville, Virginia and Political Science Professor at Virginia State University. He is the youngest individual ever elected to the post. He came into the national spotlight after leading the effort to remove statues of Robert E. Lee and Stonewall Jackson from city parks. Dr. Bellamy’s primary focus is on improving the lives of those who lack resources and positive role models in their lives. Dr. Bellamy has been featured in the New York Times, Washington Post and has made appearances on CNN, NPR and On One with Angela Rye.
This event is FREE to the public but we sell tables at $250 (10 seats) to help cover the cost. Please consider purchasing one of the ten tables or making a donation to make this event a success!
