Furman University announced that it has received its second $25 million grant from The Duke Endowment to expand and advance The Furman Advantage. Anna B. Mitchell of The Post and Courier takes a deeper look into the impact of the program. She points to Furman senior Charlie Lott, an economics and sustainability sciences double major, whose living expenses were covered during his unpaid internship with the Institute for Political Ecology in Zagreb, Croatia.

With the expansion of The Furman Advantage, even more students will have such opportunities. Furman President Elizabeth Davis explains how the program is unique. “Every school is going to have internships and research and leadership,” she said. “That’s not the interesting part of this. It’s the every student piece. It’s the intentionality.”
