Downtown Basil’s Final Dinner Service Is Tonight

On February 19, Eater Carolinas disclosed that the 460 King Street location of Thai restaurant Basil would shutter when its lease ended in May — now there is confirmation from the eatery’s management that tonight will be the final evening for the downtown mainstay. Open for takeout only at this point, Basil has served Charleston since 2002.

Moving the timeline up to March, from May, comes as a bit of a surprise to everyone. The Basil locations in Mount Pleasant and Park Circle will remain open.

Now, anyone craving pad thai downtown will need to travel off the peninsula.
