South Carolina Charities, Inc. (SCCI) announced today that despite the cancellation of this year’s tournament due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 BMW Charity Pro-Am Presented by SYNNEX Corporation raised a total of $118,152 for Upstate charities. The tournament also announced that the 2021 tournament will take place June 7-13 at Thornblade Club and The Cliffs Valley.
The charitable funds were raised through a collective effort from the Upstate community, including the Tournament Week of Giving online auction, charity donations through Birdies for Charity and donations from this year’s tournament participants, including sponsors, volunteers and ticket holders.
“This pandemic has had an unimaginable impact on the charities that lean on our support year-to-year,” explains Bob Nitto, president of South Carolina Charities. “We are truly grateful to our community and tournament participants, volunteers and sponsors for stepping up in this extraordinary time of need to continue to support these charities that make a daily impact on the Upstate of South Carolina. This final total is something we should all be proud to stand behind.”
Proceeds from this year’s fundraising efforts will benefit the six featured charities of the 2020 tournament week:
· Mobile Meals of Spartanburg
· Prisma Health Children’s Hospital – Upstate
· Roper Mountain Science Center
· The Cliffs Residents Outreach
· Cancer Society of Greenville County
· Meyer Center for Special Children
“We are so very thankful for the support that we have received from the BMW Charity Pro-Am presented by SYNNEX Corporation,” said Lisa Green, executive director of the Cancer Society of Greenville. “These dollars translate into hope, help and healing for over 4,000 Greenville cancer patients served by our organization, and is a much-needed boost with fundraising dollars being negatively impacted due to the current pandemic.”
