Candy Coffins Release First EP “Somehow Misplaced”

Candy Coffins are excited to present their first EP “Somehow Misplaced,” a five-song collection that embodies the diverse range of the band and encapsulates the intensity of their live shows. The album was engineered and mixed by the talented David Barbe (Deerhunter, Drive-By Truckers, R.E.M.) at Chase Park Transduction in Athens, GA earlier this year, and mastered by Jason NeSmith.

With the final product ready for debut in early 2020, Candy Coffins were poised to promote the EP at a variety of high profile local shows including the Columbia Museum of Art’s Arts & Draughts series and the Annual Columbia Record Fair, as well as regional shows in Greenville and Charlotte. The global pandemic altered those plans, and the band is hopeful to play a series of shows in the summer and fall to support the release.

The new EP is available digitally via candycoffins.bandcamp.com. The CD is in production and pre-ordering is available. The first single from the new collection, “Double Drunk,” is in rotation on 94.9 The Palm and all five tracks are on all of the major streaming services including Apple Music, Deezer, Google Play, iHeartRadio, Napster, Pandora, Spotify, and YouTube Music.

ABOUT CANDY COFFINS

Facebook | Website
Forming in 2018, Candy Coffins have spent the last two years tirelessly playing across the southeastern United States. Prior releases include their first singles, “Images On The Screen” and “Axis Tilt And Spin.” Both of these tracks are available on seven inch colored vinyl as well as via digital downloads and streaming services.

Candy Coffins offer a wellspring of superbly crafted melodic post-punk, proving to be relentless in their pursuit of material that embodies the emotive nature of human experience. While one foot is firmly planted in the foundation of brooding, emotional restlessness, the other steps into an arena of hope and elation. With tasteful nods to luminaries The Church, Joy Division, The Cure, The Psychedelic Furs and The Cult, and contemporaries like Interpol, The Eagulls, Cold Cave and The Horrors, their sound is defiantly unique, offering a welcome respite from tired musical mediocracy. Candy Coffins channel the sonic confectionaries of life. Plan accordingly.
