BridgeGVL Website Launched to Facilitate Local Business Support

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

This is a tough time for our locally owned businesses and there are a lot of initiatives being implemented to help make it easy for people to support them. At iOnGreenville, we have launched pages that list takeout options from local restaurants and a way for people to give service workers a virtual tip but we know that this efforts on scratch the surface.

With that in mind, we are always looking a new solution being created to help support our local businesses and were just introduced to BridgeGVL. BridgeGVL is a new website designed to make it easy to support local by providing quick links to Gift Cards and Takeout options. We spoke to the designer of BridgeGVL, Derek Nelsen, and wanted to share our conversation.

What inspired you to create BridgeGVL?

The idea for the BridgeGVL project was born on March 19th, 2020. Oak Hill Café and Farm, one of our clients, was making adjustments to their business model and website as fast as possible to adapt to the new challenges posed by COVID-19. My business partner, Ryan Maas, and I realized we could be doing more to help small businesses across Greenville by utilizing our expertise in web development and our network of friends, family, and partners. So, we got to work.

What fundamental problem does BridgeGVL help solve?

The problem we are attempting to solve with the BridgeGVL project is to connect people who want to help our locally-grown small businesses in Greenville with the resources to do so. We will adapt and grow as we learn about the needs of our local businesses and as the COVID-19 crisis throws new challenges our way. While BridgeGVL was created to help specifically during this pandemic, we have our eye on becoming a resource that extends beyond this difficult season. Eventually, we would like to become the go-to resource for discovering new businesses in Greenville and helping businesses that are struggling during crises. And, beyond that, we intend to remain a free service, forever.

How can our readers help support BridgeGVL?

If you would like to support this project, there are a couple of ways you can help. First, drop us a note to let us know how we are doing using the “contact us” form on the website. If you find an issue, have a suggestion, or just want to leave a comment, we would love to hear from you! Second, if you know of, or have a business that you think should be added to the site, please fill out the “add a business” form so we can update the site as soon as possible. Finally, please share our site with our Greenville family so we can build awareness that this resource exists, and that we are here to help!
