2nd Annual Friends of the Poor Walk/Run

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul (SVdP), a nonprofit organization that helps those living in poverty, will sponsor the 2nd Annual Friends of the Poor® Walk/Run on September 22, 2018 to benefit those in need regardless of race, color or creed in Greenville County.
This charitable event is being held at St Joseph Catholic School, 100 St. Joseph Drive, Greenville, SC 29607. Registration will begin at 9:00 a.m., with the event starting at 10:00 a.m. $25 donation registration for a 1 mile walk/run or a 2 mile run.
All proceeds and donations from the event will directly benefit the people in the Greenville County served by SVdP, and there are no administrative fees associated with the event. Anyone interested in learning more, participating, or making a pledge can visit fopwalk.org. Participants also can make an online pledge.
The event is held near the feast day of the Society’s patron, St. Vincent de Paul (Sept 27), who ministered to the poor in Paris in the 17th century. The walk in each community is designed and run by the St. Vincent de Paul Council in that area. The local Walk/Run is being sponsored by
SVdP – FOP® Walk/Run Society’s Piedmont Council to assist those in need with food, utility bills, disaster relief, short term accommodations, home visits and other needs as required in Greenville County. Last year the assistance to those in need exceeded $500,000.
