Law enforcement agencies from across the Central Coast have responded to an active threat in Ben Lomond, near Alba Road and Highway 9, Saturday afternoon. According to the California Highway Patrol, two deputies were shot and taken to the hospital. Their conditions were not reported. The Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office reported at 3:40 p.m. local time that one person had been taken into custody but the area was still considered an active threat and residents are asked to stay away. The bomb squad was called to the area. The Sheriff’s Office tweeted at 3:20 p.m. Saturday, SCPD units are responding to multiple critical incidents in Santa Cruz County.All available units are supporting a multi-agency effort. The agency said, “only call 9-1-1 if you have a real emergency.” Calls for service in the City of Santa Cruz may experience delays.
