Three Artists to launch their new studios during August’s First Friday at Hampton Station

The Arts Roll into Hampton Station

Coinciding with Metropolitan Arts Council’s First Fridays, this Grand Opening Celebration kicks off the
artsy side of Hampton Station, home to a variety of businesses in a refurbished 1920’s cotton storage
warehouse in Greenville’s iconic Water Tower District. Join sculptor Lou Koppel, artist Gerry Wubben,
and jewelry designer Tanya Stiegler at the Art Up Studios (Bay 2) at Hampton Station, 1320 Hampton
Ave, Greenville SC on Friday August 4th from 6 to 9 PM.
Lou Koppel is a mixed-media sculptor who creates modern, evocative art inspired by his extensive
foreign travel and by early twentieth century masterworks created by Constructivist and Bauhaus artists.
Lou uses modern materials such as anodized aluminum and carbon fiber and employs unique forming
and joining techniques of his own development. www.art-scientist.com , lou.artscience@gmail.com
Gerry Wubben takes the tradition of drawing to new heights in monumentally-scaled portraits and
nature subjects. Some measuring seven feet high, his detailed, realistic renderings are carefully
executed in charcoal. Among the oldest of drawing mediums, charcoal was one of the primary
materials used for sketching by Renaissance artists, including Leonardo da Vinci. Wubben also works
with printmaking and theater set designing. He’s now experimenting with iPad drawings, some of which
are on display in his studio. WubbenWorks@gmail.com | Website

Tanya Stiegler, having worked as a goldsmith and jeweler for over 22 years, now applies this wealth of
experience to breathing life into her own creations in precious metals, gemstones, and pearls. Inspired
by the natural world and by the sentimentality of jewels handed down, her pieces are a unique delight
to give and to wear. Website |   Tanya@tanyastieglerdesigns.com

The Art Up Studios also house Flaunt Studio fashion photography, McKeely Creative brand direction and Meant Studios cowork space, The Flow Depot yoga and massage, Company Interiors interior design, and hopefully soon a juice bar/coffee shop concept!

In addition to the Art Up Studios, Hampton Station serves as home for Birds Fly South Brewery, White Duck Taco, Noble Dog Hotel, Lion’s Roar CrossFit, Invert Boardsports, Treehugger Customs, Dapper Ink’s production, Lever Gear, and Standridge Studios with artist Ric Standridge.
